Our Story

Michel Sarot worked as an antiques restorer and cabinetmaker for many years in his native Brussels, Belgium, where he trained with some of the top furniture ateliers in Brussels: the Van Leeuw brothers, renowned expert cabinetmakers, and Daniel Nöel, a highly sought-after antiques restorer. Upon moving to the Washington, D.C. area, he began working out of a small converted garage—“Le Petit Atelier,” or the Little Workshop—where he crafted entire sets of kitchen cabinetry and large built-ins before expanding his business and his workshop. 

 

Michel is a true connoisseur of his craft who is passionate about working with wood, skilled in using modern and centuries-old techniques to draw out its beauty and purpose, and cognizant and mindful of the story that each piece tells.
